Doug Boyd, so., competed yesterday, Saturday, May 22, at the state competition for the Special Olympics. He competed in the softball throw after qualifying at the regional competition. He placed first in the softball throw and third in the 50 meter dash at the regional competition.

In the softball throw, a person competing has three tries to throw a softball as far as they can. The first two throws are practice throws and the final throw’s distance is taken for the score.

Boyd says that he is surprised that he got first place in the regional competition but enjoyed competing at state.

Boyd also had advice for anyone who wants to do well in sports or competing in sports: "To make your dreams come true, work hard to make them come true."
